Ansible create hostname from domain and subdomain
I have a playbook where, depending by the case, I would need the full hostname, only the domain name or the subdomain name.
If I have two variables, subdomain and domain, I can generate the full domain inside a template like this:
{% if subdomain is defined %}{{ subdomain }}.{{ domain }}{% else %}{{ domain }}{% endif %}
Is is possible to generate the full domain in the same way inside a role, e.g. in a yaml file? I couldn't find anything similar in the docs. Now I've created a third variable _full_domain_ which is subdomain.domain, but I'd prefer to know if such a thing is possible.

Yes, that will work in the yaml, but you probably need to put it in quotes: "{% if subdomain is defined %}{{ subdomain }}.{{ domain }}{% else %}{{ domain }}{% endif %}"
