woocommerce alter price on single product page based on customer input
In Woocommerce I would like to calculate the price of an item based on the customer's input of length and width. I want to do a more complex calculation than plugins allow.
I would like to start simply. How do you get two input fields, and then alter the price on the single product page (which is then passed through to the cart when they click add to cart).
I would like the price to update dynamically on the single product page, so I imagine some javascript is required?
Say for example if we want the price to be Length x Width x 0.2 (the final calculation will be more complex, but for now just use this to show how to do it).
I have the following code to get the input on the single product page (the tables just make it look a little nicer):
//Show Input on Single Product Page
function macb_custom_options(){
$width1 = isset( $_POST['_macb_prod_width'] ) ? intval( sanitize_text_field( $_POST['_macb_prod_width'] ) ) : '';
$length1 = isset( $_POST['_macb_prod_length'] ) ? intval( sanitize_text_field( $_POST['_macb_prod_length'] ) ): '';
echo "<table><tr><td>";
printf( '<label>%s</label></td><td><input size="10" name="_macb_prod_width" type="text" value="%s" />', __( 'Width (mm)'), esc_attr( $width1 ) );
echo "</td></tr><tr><td>";
printf( '<label>%s</label></td><td><input size="10" name="_macb_prod_length" type="text" value="%s" />', __( 'Length (mm)'), esc_attr( $length1 ) );
echo "</td></tr></table>";
}
add_action( 'woocommerce_before_add_to_cart_button', 'macb_custom_options', 9 );
Thanks!
