Storm gathering
The giraffes were part of a group that Antonio had been following for several days in Tanzania's Lake Manyara National Park. They had spent the early morning browsing in wooded savannah but then began to drift away across the plain. When the storm clouds began to thicken, Antonio realized he had components that would express the essence of the African wilderness: an iconic wild animal, a vast space and a rolling, darkening sky. 'At one point, the giraffes stopped, as though waiting for the storm. It was a wonderful contrast between a quiet moment and a strong, dramatic event.' Shortly after, the clouds burst.
